Description

De Ridder Berthoutlaan is a quiet, residential street in the heart of Niel. Its location is particularly central, situated between Antwerp, Brussels and Mechelen, allowing easy access in every direction. Shops, schools and public transport are all within close reach, making everyday life especially convenient. At the same time, you enjoy a pleasant and green living environment where tranquillity and accessibility blend harmoniously.

Behind the charming façade of this former presbytery lies a surprisingly spacious and characterful home where authenticity and contemporary comfort come together effortlessly. Around the year 2000, the house underwent a thorough renovation, carefully preserving the original features that give the property its unique character.

You enter the home through an elegant entrance hall. At the front of the house, a separate office space offers the perfect setting for working from home or combining living with a professional practice. The generous living room is filled with natural light and overlooks the garden. Adjacent to it is the country-style kitchen, which flows seamlessly into a particularly atmospheric orangery. Here, high ceilings and authentic wooden beams create a warm, almost southern ambience, with a direct connection to the garden.

The first floor offers three full-sized bedrooms, a bathroom with bathtub, shower and double washbasin, a dressing room and a separate laundry room. The second floor surprises with an impressive open attic beneath exposed wooden trusses — a space full of possibilities: an atelier, playroom, studio or additional bedrooms.

Beneath the house lies a large, dry cellar with a technical room and additional storage space.

Outside, you can enjoy a pleasant garden, a separate garage and a driveway with parking space.

A characterful home of more than 350 m², ideal for large families or for those wishing to combine living and working.

The owners,

owner speaks out

What struck us from the very first moment was the unique combination of liveliness and tranquillity. Just a short walk from the house, you can enter the beautiful Niels Broek nature reserve along the banks of the Rupel. It is a place where you can truly slow down and catch your breath, away from the daily bustle.
The vast grasslands, ponds and small waterways form a true paradise for nature lovers. We have spotted frogs and salamanders here, but also beavers and even otters. And with a bit of luck, you may see deer appearing in the distance. Each season brings something new, with a rich variety of birds constantly transforming the landscape.
At the same time, you live in a warm and vibrant village. Niel has a strong local spirit, with traditions we look forward to every year. The annual fair and village festivities create a lively atmosphere, while the well-known Cyclocross Niel in November brings a unique energy to the village. The Saint Hubert celebration, with its animal blessing, is another moment that brings the community together. For us, this house has therefore been much more than just a home. It is a place where you can truly arrive, enjoy space and nature, and at the same time be part of a close-knit community.
