Description

In option - In the sought-after neighbourhood of Hoogboom, you’ll live in an exceptionally green setting, surrounded by the sound of birdsong, yet conveniently close to all amenities (schools, supermarkets, public transport).

Wooden cladding, a thatched roof, tucked away in the greenery... . In this romantic cottage, you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped into an idyllic fairy tale in the woods. It was once a country retreat. In 1993, the current owner added the glass entrance hall and the living area on the left.

This glass entrance hall, set on blue natural stone with a guest toilet and lovely garden views, immediately sets the right mood. To the right lies the cosy, light-filled living area, with the feel of a conservatory, which extends right up to the roof ridge. An elegant spiral staircase leads to the multifunctional mezzanine, which you can furnish as an office, sitting area, TV room or connecting space between the two beautiful bedrooms to the left and right of it. Small attic space.

Back downstairs, you reach the cosy living room with a fireplace and dining room via the garden room. All these rooms feature parquet flooring with underfloor heating. Adjacent: a rustic, L-shaped kitchen with the (original front) door leading to the fantastic garden with a small pond. Also on the ground floor: a large bedroom with parquet flooring, a connecting room (currently a dressing room) and a bathroom with a spacious shower, double washbasin and toilet.

In the extension on the left: a large laundry room, a storage room with a side door, a shower room and a large room with a separate entrance – ideal as an extra bedroom or practice room. Carport, large driveway and a handy storage shed for firewood or bicycles.

owner speaks out

Love at first sight! That’s exactly how I felt when I first saw this house. I immediately told the owner at the time that I wanted to buy it if he ever decided to move on – and in 1976, the time had come. My mother-in-law used to say with a smile that we’d moved into the stable in Bethlehem. We loved living here, and over the years we naturally carried out the necessary renovations. I thoroughly enjoyed the birds singing their hearts out to their reflections in the windows, and the peace and quiet. I’ve now formed a close bond with all the birds in the neighbourhood. A new chapter is beginning for me, but I hope the next owners will derive much pleasure and joy from our ‘little stable in Bethlehem’. PS: as I was writing this, the wren was singing at the top of its voice!
