Description

Living in the officers' quarter of Maria-ter-Heide means residing in a green oasis in the Noorderkempen. Built in the 1920s for army officers, the neighbourhood still exudes a stately, park-like atmosphere. Here you can enjoy the tranquillity of a wooded area, with the Groot Schietveld as a unique nature reserve nearby. At the same time, the neighbourhood is strategically located close to shops, schools, public transport and easy access to Antwerp and the Netherlands.
This special semi-detached house with an impressive living area of 497 m² is located in this quiet officers' neighbourhood of Brasschaat. The house was completely renovated between 2008 and 2020, with respect for the authentic details such as doors with stained glass, an elegant staircase, mouldings and original floors. The living areas flow beautifully into each other: the office behind double doors, the modern kitchen with a large island, the light-filled dining room with a dome and veranda feel, and the cosy living room with parquet flooring and a wood-burning stove.
Upstairs, you will find spacious bedrooms (six in total), two bathrooms, a dressing room and a finished attic room that can also serve as a playroom or office. Everywhere upstairs has authentic plank flooring, which gives the house warmth and character.

The basement has been converted into a separate living unit, ideal for granny flat, B&B or co-housing. This floor has its own entrance hall, living room with kitchen and terrace, bathroom with sauna, bedroom and practical storage room.
The south-facing garden offers many possibilities, with a garden shed that once served as a music studio and a carport for two cars. Thanks to the central vacuum system, modern installations and generous space, this is a home that combines authentic charm with contemporary comfort.

owner speaks out

When we first walked around here, it seemed as if time had stood still. The tranquillity and charm of the 1920s houses immediately appealed to us, and to this day, that peace and quiet remains one of the neighbourhood's greatest assets. The neighbourhood feels like an oasis in busy Brasschaat, while everything you need – shops, schools, public transport and roads – is close by. We have made wonderful memories here: summer barbecues and campfires in the garden, children's parties with tents or, in winter, sleepovers with mattresses all over the house. Christmas with a tall tree next to the wood-burning stove, Halloween with neighbours and pumpkin soup in the play street: these are moments we will always remember. Every day, we enjoy the light, space and comfort of a renovated home, combined with the unique charm of the 1920s.
