Description

IN OPTION - Within walking distance of the centre of Broechem and yet blissfully surrounded by greenery. A perfect base for those who love cycling or walking, and a convenient starting point for shaping your family life, with youth movements, schools and shops nearby. You are also quick to get to Lier, Antwerp and the E313 motorway.

Split-levels, brick accent walls, captivating contrasts in textures, lots of large windows - this family home designed by architect Clement Bollen is 80s all over. Thanks to the open floor plan, the cosy sitting pit, dining room and office on a raised level flow together beautifully. The soapstone stove provides extra cosiness. Beautiful floors in basalt and slate throughout. Practical kitchen with handy pantry, with a built-in sauna as a surprise. From there, you can access the garage with space for 2 cars and grease pit.

The beautiful staircase in wenge wood takes you to +1 with 4 spacious bedrooms, bathroom and the master bedroom with again many large windows. Waking up with a view of the greenery, pure enjoyment.

In the lovely sheltered garden (S), you can enjoy the sun from morning to evening. So you can find a pleasant spot at any time of day. Playing children, relaxing in the greenery, an idyllic garden party... It's all possible here. The underlying, agricultural green area provides a visual extension of the garden.

Today the heating runs on gas and dry floor heating, so interesting to convert back to electricity when using solar panels.

An architectural 80s home with a story - will you come and write a new chapter here?

owner speaks out

My husband and I built this house ourselves in 1980. It was great to see our five children growing up here. Besides, lots of relatives live in the street, so it was blissful and there was always something to do. When my husband got the idea to build this house, he and architect Clement Bollen made all the choices - and I'm still happy about that decades later. The steel structure, large windows and open floor plan made all seven of us love living here immensely. Getting up in the greenery, walking to the super cosy village of Broechem... We really experienced unforgettable times here.
