Description

Anyone who knows Antwerp knows the Cogels Osylei. Tastes may differ but there is little doubt that this is the most beautiful street in town. Each house is a work of art in itself but at the same time part of a wider aesthetic.
Several arterial roads and Berchem station are nearby. By tram or bike, you can be in the city centre in 10 minutes.

The 'Sint Jozef' is an authentic middle-class house from 1902 with an impressive neo-Gothic façade. It was designed by architect E. Van Not, commissioned by a contractor. The care with which the original owner built it can be found in every minuscule detail to this day. It is bursting with history, which has been honoured over the years: the most recent restorations date from 2023.

In the entrance hall, the marble floors and carved staircases immediately catch your attention.
The ground floor was used in the past as a doctor's surgery. Large sliding windows offer a view of the garden. The rest of the house is also bathed in light and space thanks to the high ceilings and many windows.

The heart of this house is on the first floor, in the form of a spacious living room with a dining room and a patio on either side. On the street side there is a restored patio with columns, on the other one in the sun that overlooks the garden.
The kitchen can also be found here. Furthermore: wall and ceiling paintings, herringbone parquet, marble fireplaces, moulures... The list of authentic elements is endless.

On the second floor: two very spacious boutique-style bedrooms with ensuite dressing room. Here also the first bathroom, with bathtub.
Above, the third floor with three more bedrooms and a separate bathroom. Thanks to the space between the floors, the children can really make this their private space.

A spacious attic with lots of light that served as a ceramics studio, a front garden with parking space and a very large cellar complete this dream house.

The owners,

owner speaks out

The purchase was a coup de foudre, mainly because of the stunning aesthetics of the facade, which is part of this particular neighbourhood. It's a house full of life and light, where we could retreat in peace from the hustle and bustle of the city.
