Description

IN OPTION - Right in the historical centre, between Groot Begijnhof and Melaan, close to cultural centre, music and art academy, St Rombouts tower, shops, museums, restos and yet super quiet.

Industrial, minimalist, light and open - these are the key words in this house. Two entrances lead you into this architectural loft house, spread over 2 floors of 210 m2 each. The ground floor consists of 2 white block volumes: one with bathroom, toilet, storage and technical space; the other with discreetly concealed built-in cupboards and the staircase. The open spaces between the blocks were filled in with gazebos - original chill zones or even bedrooms - and areas for relaxation and offices. At the back, a nice patio and wide garage with additional storage (45m2) at the top.

At +1 you will find the large, light-filled living space with XL open kitchen with a sea of storage space and quality appliances (Miele steam oven, combi oven, induction cooker, wine fridge...). Note also the subtly clever lighting plan, such as J. Walraevens' design on the long white wall: this installation, inspired by a bar code, is echoed in the original cabinet system. The 2nd, black block on this floor consists of walls with built-in cupboards and TV. On the patio side, you'll find the bedroom and hidden bathroom with walk-in shower and bathtub.

And then the pièce de résistance: from the phenomenal roof terrace with fireplace and conservatory (double glazing) you can enjoy the blissful view of Mechelen's most famous tower in both winter and summer.

Well-designed, spacious and super-quietly located loft flat in the heart of Mechelen - a golden opportunity.

The owners

owner speaks out

Our loft is a minimalist dream that feels like a perfectly fitting puzzle. Here, old and new come together harmoniously. We deliberately chose an atmosphere that breathes tranquillity and spaciousness, without sacrificing its unique, industrial character. Thanks to the insight of my brother, Johan Walraevens, interior design architect, architecture and minimalism were interwoven here to perfection. He also devised the original lighting installation in the living space, for example. Living in the heart of the historic city centre, with shops and museums within walking distance, is also great. And if you have had enough of the city for a while, this house allows you to escape the hustle and bustle to lose yourself in the timeless beauty of the surroundings. Now a new dream is at hand: we are moving to Portugal. Therefore, it is time to give new owners the chance to enjoy this unique place and create their own dreams there.
