Description

A unique neighbourhood with the village-in-the-city feel of the city outskirts yet connected to the city centre. Public transport within easy reach, with a view of a quiet oasis at the back: the beguinage. Coffee bar Clouds in my coffee is nearby, as is restaurant Alberte. Ferri, Ventura and Edelrot are also just a 15-minute walk away.

An apartment building in sober Art Deco style built in 1928 by architect Henri Vaerwyck-Suys. The symmetrical facade immediately catches the eye. With 8 residential units, you enjoy the best of both worlds here: on the one hand you have the comfort of your own flat, and on the other the luxury and cosiness of a large, communal garden, bordering the super-quiet Beguinage. The south-facing location is ideal for summer parties and lunches with a long table on the grass.

You reach the 1st-floor flat easily via the wide stairwell, after which you enter the large, open living space with beautiful herringbone parquet flooring. From the dining room with cosy living room, you walk to the spacious, atmospheric bedroom. The open frame draws extra daylight into the living space, while a curtain ensures privacy.

Both the separate kitchen and adjoining bathroom are functional, spacious and perfectly usable. If you want, you can upgrade them and put your own stamp on them. The cosy veranda is blissfully sunny, even in winter, and can easily be transformed into an indoor terrace.

The luxury of your own flat, combined with the nice atmosphere of a large shared garden, at a great base in Ghent: what's not to like?

'Having coffee in the sunlit veranda every morning and then ending the day with the last ray of sunshine in the bedroom - amazing.'
The owner, Bruce,

owner speaks out

'A summer picnic in the garden, lunch in the veranda or dinners in the living room.... Countless fond memories I have of this place. A coffee in the sunlit veranda every morning and then ending the day with the last dash of sunshine in the bedroom - amazing. Here you live with the sun through the day and through the seasons. It is also quite unique to have such a large garden, right in the city. It is both a place of meeting and rest.

Large spaces, the communal garden and the sun-drenched veranda were the three things that were decisive when I bought the apartment. The beautiful art deco building and that fantastic 1920s interwar style also immediately appealed to me.'
