When I think of my house, many happy memories swirl through my mind. I've lived here for 31 years now, and I've had a fantastic time here. Even though it used to be quite dark and small here, because everything was divided into three little flats, we immediately felt good about it. The house really has a soul, and baking character. Over the years, we gave the house a thorough makeover: we opened everything up, let in plenty of light and air and created more space, for instance in the large kitchen and lovely veranda. We also renovated the interior step by step - keeping the original details, of course, which was very important to us. With our own hands, we sanded the parquet, the interior doors, the oak front door and the staircase... We spent hours and hours burning off paint, sanding, staining and oiling. A big job that took a lot of time but also a lot of love - and we are still very happy with the result! The garden evolved along with our family: from a lawn with a swing and sandpit to a cosy city garden where you get sucked in right from the very first rays of sunshine. We also saw our fine neighbourhood, the Groenenhoek, evolve into a popular place with Vrij België, a super cool neighbourhood pub nearby. You can't complain about the number of pubs and restaurants here anyway, as the centre of Antwerp, Berchem and Zurenborg are only a stone's throw away.
