Description

In the sought-after 'Groenenhoek', close to Te Boelaer Park, ideal for picnics, jogging, walking or an apero at Bar Brul and Café Josée, Berchem station, approach roads and bustling Zurenborg. Residential and central living; quiet yet plenty of life in the neighbourhood.

Thanks to its unique façade with light green window profiles, the house stands out in the street scene and exudes something artistic. You notice immediately that the house has character: original front door, playful Winckelmans tiles combined with authentic, warm parquet floors.

The large windows in the cosy living room let in lots of light. Adjacent: spacious kitchen with room for dining table and handy storage space. The huge skylights make you feel like you are in an orangery in any season - heavenly. The kitchen opens onto the south-facing garden. Lots of sun, lots of space, low maintenance: an ideal city garden.

On the 1st floor: 2 bedrooms and huge bathroom with bath, shower, washbasin and even laundry area. Large windows, so natural lighting and ventilation.

The 1st bedroom, currently office, is quietly located at the back. Garden view, characterful herringbone parquet and marble fireplace included. The spacious 2nd bedroom is at the front: again beautiful herringbone parquet flooring, attractive fireplace and plenty of natural light. Also on the 2nd floor 2 more bedrooms.

Over the years, the house has been thoroughly renovated: double glazing throughout, recently insulated roof, high efficiency boiler, renewed electricity and veranda. To move to in a flash!
Charm in abundance in this well-situated, artistic house with a soul.

owner speaks out

When I think of my house, many happy memories swirl through my mind. I've lived here for 31 years now, and I've had a fantastic time here. Even though it used to be quite dark and small here, because everything was divided into three little flats, we immediately felt good about it. The house really has a soul, and baking character. Over the years, we gave the house a thorough makeover: we opened everything up, let in plenty of light and air and created more space, for instance in the large kitchen and lovely veranda. We also renovated the interior step by step - keeping the original details, of course, which was very important to us. With our own hands, we sanded the parquet, the interior doors, the oak front door and the staircase... We spent hours and hours burning off paint, sanding, staining and oiling. A big job that took a lot of time but also a lot of love - and we are still very happy with the result! The garden evolved along with our family: from a lawn with a swing and sandpit to a cosy city garden where you get sucked in right from the very first rays of sunshine. We also saw our fine neighbourhood, the Groenenhoek, evolve into a popular place with Vrij België, a super cool neighbourhood pub nearby. You can't complain about the number of pubs and restaurants here anyway, as the centre of Antwerp, Berchem and Zurenborg are only a stone's throw away.
