Description

In the cozy Merode neighborhood, close to Harmonie Park, Albert Park, and Nachtegalen Park. Albert Heijn, the Wezenberg swimming pool, and De Koninck Brewery are within walking distance. All major roads are easily accessible.

As soon as you walk in, you immediately feel the authenticity of the house: the beautiful floor and wall tiles, the original staircase, the colorful stained-glass window… This home radiates warmth and coziness.

A long hallway leads straight to the garden. Behind the staircase is a practical laundry room. The delightful west-facing garden, with a charming covered terrace, is lush and green. When the trees are in full leaf, it becomes even more private.

The ground floor currently serves as a multipurpose space with lovely herringbone parquet flooring. Perhaps you’d prefer a living room here, a co-housing area, an atelier, or even a studio?

The living room on the first floor has parquet flooring, a bay window, and elegant moldings. It connects to the dining room and the new Siematic kitchen, equipped with high-end appliances (Miele, AEG, Siemens, Quooker). A wrought iron staircase leads down to the garden.

One floor up, at the front, there’s a home office with herringbone parquet and a charming bay window. At the back, a spacious bedroom with en suite bathroom (shower, bathtub, double sink).

On the top floor, you’ll find a central hallway with mosaic parquet. A new skylight brings in plenty of natural light. There are three bedrooms here, plus a bathroom that still needs to be finished.

Finally, there’s also a spacious and dry basement.

A home full of the spirit of the past, with the comfort and quality of life of today.

We’ve arranged the house so that the top floor is a true paradise for children, with bedrooms, a playroom, and the possibility to add a bathroom.

owner speaks out

One of our favorite spots is the garden. We had it landscaped to be low-maintenance, using as many native and edible plants as possible. We opted for an outdoor staircase and canopy in authentic wrought iron, crafted by De Bruyn’s forge. Another major highlight is the view of the park garden of De Bergeyck Castle, just behind our house and always beautifully maintained. The house was thoroughly renovated with great care for the original Art Deco elements, such as wooden floors and decorative plaster ceilings. We also invested in insulation for the roof, rear façade, floor, and installed new windows. When we created the green roof, we added new skylights to bring extra light into the stairwell. We’ve designed the house so that the top floor is a true paradise for children, with bedrooms, a playroom, and the potential for an additional bathroom.
