Description

In the beautiful Kardinaal Mercierlei, where almost every house is architectural heritage. Here you live residentially and close to everything: restaurants, schools, shops, swimming pool, parks, De Singel, arterial roads... In short, a blissful location.

This bourgeois residence in Beaux-Arts style by architect Ernest Nagels was built in 1912. The client was a distinguished entrepreneur who had a stonemasonry workshop behind the row of houses.

The entrance hall on marble floor is literally a beautiful entrance. In front is an ideal office space on new parquet. The mezzanine is now a cosy TV and sitting area with cabinetry and Metal Fire wood-burning fireplace.

At the back is the installed kitchen with Atag cooker and tasteful worktop in Belgian marble. Adjacent is the dining area, with authentic skylight. Ceiling-high glass doors give access to the sunny terrace. Near the kitchen is a utility room on original tiled floor, with guest toilet.

Eyecatcher on the mezzanine floor is the original mirror wall. Here also a second toilet. The master bedroom with walk-in dressing room is on the first floor. And what a view you have here: from the bay window you overlook the Le Grellelei and the Prince Albert Park in the distance. Adjacent is a large en suite bathroom with fitted wardrobes and laundry room.

There is new parquet flooring throughout the first and second floors. The second floor has two spacious bedrooms, also with fitted wardrobes. On the top and third floor are two more rooms. One of them even with a mezzanine, now converted into a cosy play and guest room.

A stately and tasteful family home in a street with standing. The charm of yesteryear combined with contemporary comfort.

The owners,

owner speaks out

This is a very warm and atmospheric house with lots of character. We immediately loved the many authentic elements, such as the skylight in the kitchen and the beautiful facade.
The city garden was always tremendously enjoyable. Thanks to its southeast orientation, you get a lot of sun here, just like in the house itself.
The beautiful street with its wide footpath is enormously nice to live on. You are close to everything here and the area is very child-friendly. We keep fond memories of our nice neighbours and annual cosy barbecue.
