Description

The unique Cogels-Osylei was close to being razed to the ground in the 1970s. Fortunately, a group of artistic architecture lovers stopped those plans. Today, this wide street is one of Antwerp's absolute showpieces in Zurenborg, close to Berchem station, tram, bus and Dageraadplaats.

Artistic atmosphere, opulent details, dizzyingly high ceilings... Living in 'De Pioen' is living with a lot of soul and character. This beautiful, partly listed building from 1905 was designed by architect Dieltiëns, who also designed the adjacent residence.

Stylish entrance hall with classy white marble and authentic moulures. The ground floor consists of 3 beautiful places with original cut glassware, ceiling paintings, Venetian gates with glass front... Atmosphere all around.

Kitchen and bathroom(s) can still be filled to your own taste. The east-facing city garden is a great place for summer BBQs and cosy get-togethers by the brazier.

The house spreads over 5 floors: after the ground floor, the 1st mezzanine with 1 room. The 1st, 2ndand 3rd floors each have 2 consecutive places and 1 extra front room. 2nd mezzanine with 1 room with toilet and above that the attic. Basement, indoor garage for 2 cars and 2 outdoor spaces.

In 1995, this property received a thorough restoration (zinc roof, electricity, plumbing, pipes, windows, new occupation). Since then, everything has been perfectly maintained. Whatever your plans are, here you have room for them in abundance.

De Pioen: extremely spacious, architectural family home with garden, ideal for combining with a home office or practice, in an unrivalled Antwerp street full of architectural history.

owner speaks out

After working here for a long time, we considered moving here too. The beautiful views of centuries-old architectural heritage and the super cosy neighbourhood literally never get boring! Not to mention the authentic elements, light and large spaces in this house. That holy trinity creates extraordinary potential here.

I consider myself lucky every day to have such a unique environment to live in. I am therefore leaving here with pain in my heart. After all these years, I am still not tired of the splendour the houses exude and the decorative details that continue to surprise.
