Description

Fantastic post-bellum house realised by J.F. René Bossaerts in 1952.

Just across the Singel, behind the Erasmus Hospital and close to the Te Boelaer Park. Shops and public transport in the immediate vicinity, five minutes from connecting roads and ten minutes from the city.

The property holds the middle ground between late art deco and early modernism. The two styles are subtly combined into one.

The style of the house manifests itself in an impressive entrance hall with generous staircase, an immense living room with long fireplace, a spacious landing, substantial rooms with adjoining terraces, large windows and a pleasant feeling of space.

With great respect for the past and an extremely good taste for interiors, the house was carefully renovated.

In terms of choice of materials, the owners worked with emperador marble in the entrance hall, fishbone parquet floors in the wnk and kkn, block parquet on the first floor. In terms of plumbing, they sought vintage lavabos and toilets, the perfect taps and coloured tiles. A beautiful combo of old and new!

The kkn was filled in contemporary with white cabinets in harmony with a light grey/beige granite with lots of texture and a gold wallpaper. All comfort elements are present. Adjacent is the spacious terrace with east orientation and the garden.

Layout: glvl: entrance hall, cloakroom, wc, semi-open kkn with storage, dining room and living room as one unit - 1st: three bedrooms, dressing room, main bdk and kids bdk - in addition (!) semi-sous-terrain: double garage, bdk, wc, gym/multifunction room, storage/laundry room.

With a separate entrance to the lower floor, the property can also be perfectly used as a practice home, liberal profession or combo living/working.

An absolute must-see & must-buy for the architecture enthusiast!

The plumbing was replaced with coloured plumbing recovered from a demolished Expo '58 house.
The owners, Charlotte and Didier,

owner speaks out

The structure, light and space of the house are amazing! Both at the front and back, you enjoy large windows in the living room. This creates enormous amounts of light and gives a blissful living feeling.

We heavily renovated the house: sewerage, electricity, plumbing and heating, floors, windows, kitchen, three bdk, dressing room, bedroom layout, rear facade, terrace, EVERYTHING!

For the windows, we chose aluminium windows with steel look to keep the profiling narrow. The plumbing was replaced with coloured plumbing recovered from a demolished house from expo 58. In the main bdk incredible pink washbasins and a green toilet for the separate toilet on the landing.

We based the parquet on a surplus of the old parquet found in the garden. We only worked with solid wood.

The entrance hall and bathrooms are floored with the best marble. In the entrance hall as in the main bk emperador marble, in the kids bdk carrara marble with a blue glazed tile. On the terrace is a beige natural stone.

The staircase in the entrance is the eye-catcher of the house. You can see Audrey Hepburn walking down it. Super impressive and wonderfully grand.
