In option - Living in the Karel Oomsstraat feels like a smart blend of city life and breathing space. Pick up your breakfast at the bakery around the corner, stroll past supermarkets for groceries, and reach one of Antwerp’s green lungs (Middelheim Park, Park Den Brandt or Nachtegalenpark) in no time. Sports are literally across the street at swimming pool/fitness Wezenberg, and bars and restaurants are all within walking distance. With a bus stop, Velo station and both Antwerp-South and Berchem railway stations nearby, you can get anywhere in a flash. In short: a neighbourhood that has everything—except boredom.
This house loves to colour outside the lines, and that is exactly where its charm lies. In 2022 it was given a fresh soul by designers Dries Otten and Axelle Vertommen. Their signature—vivid colours, surprising forms, and clever material choices—lifts the spaces above the everyday.
On the ground floor you’ll find a spacious studio with a separate entrance. Today it’s ideal as a creative or commercial workspace; tomorrow it can just as easily be transformed into extra bedrooms with a bathroom: water connection and a separate toilet are already in place. The first floor unfolds as the living area: a bright living room at the front with an open view of the street, and a kitchen at the back overlooking greenery and bathed in morning sun. Here, a terrace with spiral staircase to the garden can easily be added—plans already exist. The second floor currently offers two bedrooms, again with those rare open views that are almost a luxury in Antwerp.
Outside, the garden was redesigned in 2025 by Legrand Mortier into a low-maintenance, layered oasis, bordering a vacant lot that has remained untouched for fifteen years and guarantees greenery. The sun follows your rhythm: breakfast in the kitchen, dinner and aperitif in the garden. With a private driveway and a spacious cellar as additional assets, this house combines playful creativity with practical comfort—ready for residents who value both character and convenience.
