'We came to live here in 1984. All our family immediately fell in love with this stylish interwar character house with all its authentic elements, which we have always cherished. Our parents worked in Brussels and Ghent, and as musicians it was ideal to live so close to the motorway exit. We, the children, found it very convenient that we could go anywhere by public transport or bicycle. Soon we got to know the congenial neighbourhood and friendly neighbours.
The many floors offered each family member their own space with lots of possibilities - ideal for an artistic family like ours. The 1st floor was the place where we cosily sat together as a family to cook, eat, invite friends over and listen to music. In summer, we opened the big door to the garden, so we enjoyed the beautiful view of the lush garden from the dining table. Our mother had her artistic sewing studio on the 2nd floor, and in the basement, our family's musicians rehearsed. Later, this part of the house became a separate residence for my brothers.
Saying goodbye to this great house is very difficult. Our childhood lies here, as does that of our children and the parting of our parents. We take with us fond memories of the countless parties and many friends who came here. It was a fantastic home, full of life, warmth and connection. We wish that same happiness to the new residents.'
