Description

Characterful house with city courtyard

Situated between the city centre and the parks of Wilrijk. During the week, you can quickly reach the main roads towards Brussels or Ghent and in the evening pop into the Albert Heijn or Delhaize supermarket around the corner. On Sundays, swimming with the kids in the Wezenberg or going to the playground in the Nachtegalenpark.

The house is part of an architectural ensemble of six row houses built by the Cols and De Roeck firm in the early 1930s. The house is representative of the business-like character between art deco and modernism, recognisable in, among other things, the austere brick and the three-sided bay window.

The interior was built up with beautiful art deco elements such as a frut tile in the hall and kkn, beautiful parquet floors, wooden arches, a stained-glass window, authentic door handles and an elegant historic stair banister. The roof has been insulated. The windows have double-glazing. Heating is on gas. Two pellet stoves were added for cosiness on winter days.

The floor plan is organised around the stairwell with overhead light, the centre of the house. The glvl provides space for the entrance hall, the garage for a city car, the kkn and the dining room with an adjacent cosy and spacious city courtyard. Ideal for a summer BBQ. On the bell floor, the L-shaped sitting room occupies the street side, and an additional TV room or large bdrm with an adjacent bdk on the garden side. The 2nd floor comprises two large, two small bdrms and a storage room.

Perfect home for an architecture-loving city family that also enjoys the benefits of the green city outskirts.

Beautiful elements, pleasant light and enough space so that everyone has their own place.
The owners, Gaelle and Michael,

owner speaks out

As we both work in Brussels, accessibility to the motorway was an important aspect in our search for a home. We definitely wanted to live in the city without having to drive through the city every morning.

The location of the house is top notch!

During the weekend, we greatly enjoy Domein Hertoghe, a hidden gem in Antwerp! The fence around the domain gives the impression that it is a private domain, but nothing could be further from the truth. You can enjoy the peace and quiet here. Apart from the occasional dog-walker, you'll almost always have the place to yourself.

The restaurants nearby and the proximity of AH and Delhaize are also super practical.

And the house itself is incredibly cosy. Beautiful elements, pleasant light and enough space so that everyone has their own place.
