Description

IN OPTION - Greener, quieter and with more space for cyclists and pedestrians – that’s the new Mechelen ring road. The Schuttersvest is its most beautiful stretch, just a short walk from the station, the historic city centre, shops, cafés and the Lamot site. At the same time, you’re delightfully close to the canal and Vrijbroek Park for scenic walks.

This spacious 19th-century townhouse shines like never before after a thorough and energy-efficient renovation. Natural light floods the interior through large windows; original parquet floors, mouldings and marble fireplaces have been beautifully preserved. With 289 m² of living space and an excellent EPC score, everything is in place for your dream home or workspace.

The large ground floor features a double room with authentic parquet and, at the rear, a multifunctional open space with access to the sunny south-facing garden — perfect as an office or practice, or to extend the living area for extra comfort. Separate toilet, practical utility room/laundry, underfloor heating and a spacious cellar.

Both the main staircase and the steel spiral staircase lead to the first floor: a cosy living room with herringbone parquet, a bright kitchen with ATAG appliances, underfloor heating and a lovely terrace. Separate toilet.
On the second floor: master bedroom with original wooden floor, ensuite bathroom with double sink, bath, walk-in Duravit shower, Vola fittings and ample built-in storage. Two more bedrooms, the option for a second bathroom (connections in place) and an attic complete the property.

Lots of space, open views, plenty of natural light — all in a prime location close to the city centre, in Mechelen’s so-called “golden triangle.”
The eigenaars,

owner speaks out

It’s easy to feel an instant connection with this house. From the very first visit, we saw its potential: spacious rooms, a lovely open view, and that prime location near the city centre, in Mechelen’s “golden triangle.”
We renovated the home completely from A to Z and added a small extension at the back. The glass dome in the centre lets natural light pour in. That modern touch blends beautifully with the authentic charm of this townhouse.
The kitchen on the first floor will always be our favourite spot — perfect for breakfast in the morning sun. The charming garden is another highlight. Each time, we’re amazed by the peaceful silence, with only birdsong in the background. It won’t surprise you that we truly loved living here.
