''We were lucky to grow up in the Groeneweg. For us at the time, that was a street full of peers with whom we had a lot of fun. Our parents perhaps looked at it more practically when buying the building plot. Groeneweg is a quiet street close to the centre: butcher, baker, pharmacy, Delhaize,... everything is within walking distance.
Meanwhile, many of the then residents have moved or died and the street has begun to rejuvenate. A lot of houses have been rebuilt and re-occupied by young families with children.
As for our house, people keep telling us how beautiful and modern it still looks. Both the exterior appearance and the interior design show that the architect was 'ahead of his time'. It remains a cosy house with lots of light. The large windows were certainly exceptional in ordinary residential houses at the time. This allowed us to enjoy the light and warmth of the sun all year round. The unique layout of the house makes it charming. For us as children, there were many ideal hiding places due to the height differences. The garden, neither too big nor too small, is always beautifully maintained. It is quiet to sit on one of the terraces. We are really going to miss the house: we haven't seen its unique character anywhere else. We hope the future residents will have as good a time as we did.'
