Description

In the heart of the coveted Markgravelei, a neighbourhood full of cosy restaurants and cafés, and close to deSingel and swimming pool Wezenberg, stands this beautiful Beaux-Arts-style bourgeois house. With the court of Leysen, Cafe kamiel next door and excellent connections to Brussels, Ghent and the Netherlands, this is the perfect location for those who want to combine vibrant city life with a quiet environment.

This spacious, characterful mansion exudes the elegance of yesteryear and offers plenty of possibilities for those who want to furnish and finish it to their own taste. Upon entering, you are welcomed by an impressive entrance hall with classic marble floors, high ceilings and an ornate wooden staircase that takes you to the upper floors.

On the first floor, there is a large, wide living space with very high ceilings that connects, via the kitchen, to a separate dining room. Further up on the second floor are two generous bedrooms and a bathroom, making it an ideal private area for family members or as a master suite. The third floor accommodates three additional bedrooms and a second bathroom, perfect for larger families or guests. On the fourth floor is an additional room that can be converted into a guest room or studio, ideal for an au pair or lodgers.

At the back, you will find a large, sunny city garden - a hidden oasis where you can relax or receive guests.

The owner,

owner speaks out

Living here always gave me the best of both worlds: close to the bustling centre of Antwerp, yet in a quiet, green area full of cosy restaurants. I had a great childhood here, especially during Christmas with a huge tree in the lounge and lights reflected in the crystal chandeliers.

Music often filled the house. My mother played the piano, and I taught myself in the large drawing room. My father had his doctor's office on the ground floor, and he told me that my piano playing reassured his patients while they waited downstairs.

During my student days, the beautiful hall, where cars used to drive to the garage, was often used for both long study sessions and impromptu parties. Once, my friend Hilde - now my wife - cooked for 50 people when we had only counted on five!
