The original art-deco character with modernist traits was revived by our dad. The original art-deco elements were renovated and complemented in the same style. New elements were added as contemporary style fragments with a nod to the modernism so loved by dad. Through a double entrance shaft you walk through "my art gallery", as dad called it: a high, wide and well-lit corridor that gives access to a completely open plan. Non-functional interior walls were removed to enhance the loft feel. Bold choices in line with the great predecessors were made by, for example, painting the existing parquet black. The heating elements and door handles harkened back to the heyday of Bauhaus. The icing on the cake is the terrace that offers a magnificent view of Antwerp city centre, including Renaat Braem's "Oudaan" police tower and St Andrew's Church. Too bad dad didn't get enough time to enjoy his pride, but we hope the next owner will embrace this property with the same enthusiasm.
