Description

Top location near the park of Schilde, within walking distance of the center and the cozy old church square. An apero in Den Toren, just around the corner to the bakery for small pistols with the reassuring sound of the bell tower. In addition, at the back adjacent to nature reserve. Never neighbors behind, not counting the herons, wild ducks, pheasants and deer.

A Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home. The Willits House, The Arthur B. Heurtley House, The Robie House, The Thomas House, the home is an example of excellent Prairie style. Progressive and American architecture. The style of the Prairie School can be recognized by horizontal lines, flatter roofs, controlled decorations and asymmetry. Reinforced concrete makes overhanging roofs and large windows possible. This creates a lot of light. The architecture starts with the interior space where you actually live and then the exterior structure is viewed. The interaction of the home with its natural environment is important. Bricks, natural stone and wood are popular building materials. Nature is drawn in through many and well-placed windows.

Already in the spacious entrance hall it becomes clear that 'an abundance of space' in this house is anything but an empty promise. Ground floor: large living space on natural stone with a stately fireplace, separate dining room, separate TV room, home office and plenty of cooking and storage space in the open kitchen with breakfast corner, cool storage and bicycle storage with side entrance - ideal for immediately after school or hobbies cozy to join for a four hour. The garden room leads to the phenomenal indoor swimming pool with double shower with marble, dressing room, sauna and hatch to (wine) cellar.

Thanks to the gigantic window in front, the floating staircase offers a hallucinatory view of the garden, and takes you in "zen" mode to the floor with 6 bedrooms. The master bedroom has an adjoining bathroom with bath, shower, double sink, toilet and large dressing room. Just like the master, the 5 other bedrooms also open onto a central hall. Warm parquet floors everywhere, lots of light and beautiful views. The children's bathroom with shower and double sink comes in handy during the morning rush hour. Laundry room, separate toilet.

The front garden guarantees privacy. A carport for 2 cars provides car shelter. Six other places can be used by guests.

The beautiful garden has several terraces, great to fully enjoy the sun. The garden has a perfect southwest orientation and is an absolute pleasure to walk in. Another COVID lockdown? No problem in this house. A private park, indoor swimming pool and fitness room will keep you busy. Summer barbecues, garden parties, dinners in better times? Always better with this unique view of the nature reserve behind as a backdrop. The sheep in the garden are already enjoying it. You soon?

We dreamed of a modern house in nature with lots of space and light, and the architect more than succeeded.

owner speaks out

We built the house ourselves with the desk of my brother-in-law, who is an architect. We dreamed of a modern home with lots of space and light, connected to nature and he more than succeeded. The square gabled roofs and horizontal windows, which created a floating effect, gave the house a high Frank Lloyd Wright feel. Fantastic! The differences in height in the roofs also ensure harmony and at the same time give the whole a playful effect. Landscape architect Benoit Fondu designed the garden. Thanks to the extensive variety of flora, there is always something in bloom here. The sheep in the meadow at the back also gives us a lot of fun and peace. Behind the garden lies the Schijnvallei, a particularly valuable piece of nature where plenty of migratory birds, foxes and even deer pass by. If the evening sun also gives the country a warm, red glow, it is a bliss to be able to live here…
