Description

This architectural high-flyer from 1972 is hidden in the green yet very central in the wooded area of Maria-ter-Heide. This sought-after Brasschaat neighbourhood, also known as 'Polygoon', is a delightfully peaceful place to live.

Because of its sloping roof, 'Woning Van Den Bril' shows strong similarities with the own villa of Paul Schellekens, a progressive architect within Belgian modernism. Together with Carli Vanhout, his brother-in-law, Paul Neefs & Lou Janssens, Schellekens formed the famous Turnhout School, which took modernism of the 1960s and 1970s to the next level. A few years ago, the villa received an energy-efficient renovation.

Rough structures and the original modernist lamps make an immediate impression in the entrance hall with guest toilet and cloakroom. Immediately to the left a separate office, to the right the double garage with charging station. Living areas with lovely views of the huge, south-west facing garden with lots of privacy and a lovely terrace. Large dining room and modern L-shaped kitchen with plenty of cupboard space and a cosy cooking island for relaxed aperitifs. Wide windows, split levels, loft and sitting pit with fireplace ... Residence Van Den Bril is ticking all the boxes.

Via the steel staircase, a real eye-catcher, you arrive at +1, with 3 nice bedrooms, original bathroom with bath, separate toilet and storage space (ev. dressing). King-size master bedroom with en suite shower room and handy make-up cabinet

owner speaks out

'Paul Schellekens' architecture, that was an immediate coup de foudre for us. How he laid out the different rooms, making the most of every square metre and ensuring maximum light ... Fantastic!

Living here is wonderfully peaceful. Close to several woods, yet not far from the city centre. Going to the bakery and the butcher and then enjoying a sumptuous breakfast under the tree in the garden, just blissful.

The guest room, spacious desk for homework, furnished attic ... There are plenty of rooms here, so we could always decorate the house according to the wishes and needs of the moment. The house evolved with our family, so to speak. In 2015, we renovated the house with a focus on making the rooms tighter, more open and lighter. We insulated and occupied everything on the inside, with new windows and velux windows, hence also the energy certificate B. It's great that downstairs we have a view of all the greenery of the garden from every corner, with no view from the neighbours.'
