Description

Residential location in the green and at the same time very close to the center of Kapellen, so you can easily go shopping on foot.

Lou Jansen, architect of the Turnhout school, is known for his iconic villas and doctors' residences from the 1960s to the 1980s.

The Turnhout School, with names such as Paul Schellekens, Paul Neefs, Carli Vanhout and Lou Jansen, was known as innovative modernist and 'with two feet in life'. They were inspired by Scandinavian architects such as Arne Jacobsen and Alvar Aalto. At the same time, they put a lot of individuality into their designs.

The current owners of this villa are still the original builders: a rarity in 2021. They asked Jansen to design an ideal home for a family with children, with the keywords 'living together, light and space'.

That has been more than successful: thanks to the openness of the house you get a wonderful feeling of living together and yet you can easily find a place for some me-time. The large windows create a connection with nature and the many steps and level differences create a playful effect throughout the house.

You can relax in the modern sitting area or in the elevated TV room, with its cozy fireplace and wood-burning stove. You can eat together in the dining room and kitchen with a stylish breakfast corner. From every room in the house you are in contact with the large garden, with plenty of room to build camps, romp and summer parties. As an extension of the entrance hall you will find an open office space: work separately and yet be connected to what is happening in the house.

On the first floor you will find 3 bedrooms and a large bathroom. Throughout the house, ingenious built-in cupboards, beds and tables designed by the architect himself bring peace and unity to the interior.

owner speaks out

We contacted architect Lou Jansen to design a house for us. We gave him carte blanche, only a few key words were important to us: a sense of cohabitation, lots of light and space. We think he has more than succeeded in that aim. The level differences give you a very playful feeling in the house. Hours and hours our children jumped from the living room to the dining room - fortunately without accidents.
It goes without saying that this house is very dear to us. We shared joys and sorrows here and it is a beautiful house with a good soul. We hope that the next owners will inhabit this house with the same architectural love.
