Description

Within walking distance of the idyllic Dijle and Muizen station, part of Mechelen. Close to the charming Brughuis, Mechels Broek and Planckendael zoo, as well as the access roads to Leuven, BXL (airport) and Antwerp.

This detached mansion from 1910 exudes charm and character in a modernised 21st-century version. Handsome graffito panels and cantilevered gable roof, high ceilings, authentic moulures and original interior doors are reminders of the past - comfort, home automation and luxury are all contemporary.

Central spacious entrance hall. Left: cosy library with gas fireplace, open dining area with light-flooded bay window and sublime bespoke kitchen, with the large cooking island as an irresistible centrepiece. To the right: the office with, next to it, the living room, from where, as from the kitchen, you are always in connection with the XL terrace and ditto garden. Practical basement.

Mezzanine: handy laundry room and 2nd separate toilet. On +1: 4 spacious bedrooms, all with new built-in wardrobes. Next mezzanine: bathroom with spacious walk-in shower and black taps. At +2: the über-stylish master bedroom with en-suite bathroom (utilities available), nice sitting area and dressing room on herringbone parquet - a master bedroom to dream of...

As a surplus, another charming outbuilding with garage next to the house. Extra interesting: you can have the rear part of the garden split up as a separate building plot, sell it further ... Opportunities abound.

The owners,

owner speaks out

The look of this house is so irresistible, it was impossible for us not to fall in love with it, the perfect setting to expand our family. It was a big, intense renovation project, but we used all our love and energy to make it a warm home. The many lovely nooks and places in and around the house ensure that everyone can find their own spot of tranquillity, even within a large family. By integrating the latest gadgets in home automation, we brought the house to life. The house adapts to the time of day and is flexible (holiday mode, party in the garden, rest, home office ...). For a busy family like ours, the location is ideal: immediately in Mechelen by bike, our teenagers can take the train to Leuven, Antwerp or Brussels, and yet we don't feel the hustle and bustle of the city thanks to the large garden and the ever-present view of greenery.
