'Our home is located in the Sint-Elisabethbegijnhof, the oldest beguinage in Ghent. This neighbourhood just exudes history, so being allowed to live here is very special to us. We most enjoy our balcony on the 2nd floor, where we often settle down to admire the Ghent towers - a view that never gets boring.
We instantly fell in love with the many authentic elements in the house, especially the stained-glass windows in the stylish doors. Because of the play of light, the house has its unique spots at any time: in the morning, we enjoy the first rays of sunlight in the bay window on the 1st floor; by nightfall, the stained-glass windows are beautifully lit and it is great to relax in the library.
We deliberately looked for a house in the city centre, without the hustle and bustle of the city, and that golden combination can be found here: we live in the heart of Ghent and yet in a very quiet neighbourhood. This really is a village in the city, where everyone still knows each other. The peace and quiet of a village reigns here except... one weekend a year, during the Beguinage Celebrations. That's always a fantastic party, in which the whole neighbourhood participates.'
