Description

Spacious modernist corner house

Own home by architect Bruno Wachters. Located in the centre of Schelle.

The modernism lies in the concrete finish of the two levels and the eaves, the use of different types of brick, the varied depths in the facade, the large windows and the openness of the floor plan.

Different levels are also used in the house. The cockpit living area provides the necessary cosiness. The playroom was incorporated into an alcove. The timeless kitchen by "Elitekeukens" is a real gem for vintage lovers. Honesty and sobriety are key here. The openness of the kitchen, with an island avant la lettre, proves its worth when doing daily schoolwork or receiving visitors. The former veranda has been transformed into a winter room. This is a great place to stay during the mid-season and winter. It is the room the owners use most often. The spiral staircase connecting the levels is central to the house.

In terms of layout, the ground floor was used as an architect's office. Here there is also a kitchenette and a toilet. The first floor forms the living space. The second floor houses six bedrooms and one bdk. According to current standards, the rooms can be converted into three bedrooms and two bdk.

The garden creates a resting place at the house. The garden is low-maintenance yet attractively green.

The property has solar panels on the roof, roof insulation and double glazing.

On the glvl possibility of practice, office or a shop.

Architect Bruno Wachters,

owner speaks out

As an architect, I created this house for my own family. On the ground floor was my architect's office. This was very convenient. In the afternoon I could eat at home and in the evening I could continue drawing undisturbed.

My four daughters loved living here. After school, we could catch up at the open kitchen. They did their homework at the dining table while my wife prepared dinner.

The tub living with fireplace provided many cosy moments. Originally, the cockpit was carpeted, as was the play area. The rest of the living area is on stone carpet. We made the veranda afterwards. This is the space where we spend the most time.

The garden is fantastic. We have an incredible American Oak. People even come calling to ask what kind of tree it is. In addition, the architect has made the garden very user-friendly. Moreover, the garden is beautiful in every season, just different every time. "
