Description

In Den Dreihoek, known for its retro bike race, literally on the border between Antwerp and Borgerhout. Quiet street close to the hippest catering establishments on Moorkensplein, Laar and Krugerplein. Zoo, Central Station and public transport within walking distance.

This 1895 mansion was tastefully renovated by DW Architects. With finesse, contemporary comfort has been combined with authentic charm.

The entrance hall exudes character: high ceiling, moulures and black-and-white tiled floor. Handsome living space and garden room or bedroom with access to the modern bathroom with toilet (2016) and patio.

The spacious ground floor, which can be completely sealed off from the rest of the house, is legally approved as tourist accommodation and was rented out at 85 euros/night via Airbnb. Popular with couples coming to Antwerp for a weekend of shopping or business people who want more space and privacy than in a standard hotel room. The monthly income through rentals can therefore contribute nicely to paying off any mortgage payments. Previously, the space has been used by the owner as a home office, as well as by architecture firm DW Architects. This floor is also ideal as a kangaroo home, for adolescent teenagers and (cot) students.

Optimal light on the 1st floor thanks to the corridor windows and skylight. Kitchen with large stainless steel worktop, dishwasher and fridge (Miele) and gas hob (Smeg). Handy: the mobile kitchen island allows you to arrange your kitchen as you wish. From the kitchen, you enter the 2nd living room with high ceilings and durable wenge wood flooring.

On the 2nd floor another bedroom and the spacious bathroom, with cleverly hidden walk-in shower and toilet, built-in cupboards and irresistible bathtub on legs. The sunny 3rd floor is multi-purpose as a studio, office or bedroom. Literally the eye-catcher: the lovely roof terrace with a view of Borgerhout's beautiful 19th-century district house. Also nice touch: a surprisingly large basement with laundry room.

Smartly renovated neoclassical town house with delightful roof terrace in a lively, hip neighbourhood.

owner speaks out

Living here makes us realise how important and nice it is to live in such a beautiful, characterful house like this. We enjoy this home so much every day. Outside, the neighbourhood is buzzing with life, and there is always something to see and do, while inside you come home to an oasis of calm. Everything is right: the light, the details... Everything is well thought-out and in tip-top order. You have so much luxury here thanks to the space, clever design and tasteful finish with plenty of room to store things. The roof terrace? That is holiday at home: very private and at the same time a very wide, open view. Nearby, you'll find lots of galleries, restos and cosy cafés. The neighbours themselves are also very nice. Our neighbourhood association organises a few nice events every year, such as the flea market or the race. Here, we still really help each other. If anyone needs anything, the neighbours are there.
