Description

City app with courtyard garden + app.

In the middle of the historical city centre, behind the Meir near the Conciensceplein with its proximity to restaurants, shopping streets, interesting museums and the Scheldt quays.

Behind the facade of a neoclassical master house, this sublime property hides. You get a majestic first impression thanks to the impressive carriage gate, the wide front plinth of bluestone and the spacious windows.

The property itself was designed by awg architects, started in 1971 by Bob Van Reeth as the CVBAArchitectenwerkgroep (AWG) and subsequently taken over by five partners including Filip Delanghe and Christine De Ruijter, the owners of the property. The architecture firm enjoys a long and rich tradition in which context and time are always central.

The interior was tackled very timelessly and tastefully. The luxury lies in the size of the rooms, the privacy, the numerous built-in cupboards, the practical home automation system, the pleasant floor heating, the handsome industrial kkn and the inner garden, unique in the middle of the city. The property makes a u-shape around this cosy patio.

Layout: Beautiful communal entrance hall, high oak entrance door - then around the courtyard: spacious living space with a full wall of fitted cupboards, adjoining handsome kitchen, then first bedroom with shower room - on the first floor master with dressing room and luxurious bathroom - on the other side of the living space access to a huge third bedroom/studio with shower room and kitchenette. This space could easily be divided into two bdrms.

As the studio also has a separate front door and technical installations, it is also ideally suited as a practice room/ office/ live-in staff or spacious guest unit. The space comprises 91m2. The unit forms a separate app and can also be rented/sold separately.

Possibility to purchase 2 car spl (35,000 euros/unit).

Space, luxury and privacy are absolute troeven. We welcome you for a visit.

The app combines the individuality of an authentic master home with the intimacy, privacy and luxury of an urban villa.
Filip and Christine, the owners and architects,

owner speaks out

As an architect, finding your own home is incredibly difficult. You are looking for space, light and a soul - a place you feel for.

The app combines the individuality of an authentic master home with the intimacy, privacy and luxury of an urban villa. You feel the history of the building. This is reflected in the high ceilings, the spacious entrance hall and the beautiful patio.

The courtyard garden gives a kind of Italian feel. We deliberately created the living space around this spot.

The app offers the best of both worlds: silence to enjoy peace and quiet, and at the same time the luxury of being right in the centre. You step out the door towards Grote Markt, Kaaien and Scheldt, but equally to the shopping heart of Antwerp, the Saturday market, all bars and restaurants within walking distance.

About 500 years ago, the wealthier people such as Rockox and Sneyders moved into this neighbourhood for the same reasons: the luxury of being close to the city but still enjoying peace and quiet. They too built their mansions around cours and courtyard gardens. We have that here in 'miniature'.

Quiet and privacy are increasingly scarce and hard to find. Here you do not live stacked but around a patio that forms the heart of the house. In summer when all the door windows are open, the patio really becomes part of the house, an extra living space.
