Description

In a quiet street with easy parking, close to town and approach roads, well located towards Brussels, Antwerp centre and close to Park Den Brandt and Kielpark. By bike it will only take you 15 minutes to get to the heart of the city, and for shopping it will only take you five minutes to walk through the park to the supermarket! You will also find many schools super close by and the green meadow opposite the house is a cool, surprising surplus.

This authentic 50s house was designed by Jul de Roover, well-known Antwerp modernist architect and brother-in-law of Renaat Braem. The character of the facade immediately stands out in the street scene and that style continues in the house. The blue door leads to the entrance hall with guest toilet and imposing wooden staircase.

The light-rich living space flows nicely from the lounge to the dining room, where the still original dark brown cupboard and slats provide atmosphere and warmth. Be sure to note the cool 50s fireplace and the cute pass-through hatch from the dining room to the fully equipped kitchen. At the back, enjoy the blissful view of the green garden - a lush place full of flowers, ideal for unwinding or hosting a lovely summer party or BBQ.

Stairs to the sun-drenched, spacious master bedroom with en suite bathroom, which you can also access from the hallway. Fine garden views from the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms. Basement and lift (not in use). The house has always been well maintained and renovated (insulated roofs, recent new double glazing).

The owners,

owner speaks out

Our house is bathed in light. Winter and summer it is pleasant to live here. After a busy day, we dine and relax on our terrace, where the sun is just then, with a view of the green garden. The size of the garden is perfect by the way: not too much maintenance and yet you enjoy the beautiful blossoms and flowers of camellia, roses, lavender and peonies year in, year out... - a bliss so close to the city. During the hottest days of the year, it is also easy to find spots with pleasant shade in the middle of the greenery.

The kitchen combines the advantages of an open kitchen with the practicality of a closed kitchen with lots of storage space, which is ideal. In the morning, you wake up in front with sunlight and the bathroom is also large and bright. In turn, the 2 large bedrooms, with fitted wardrobes as a handy added bonus, overlook the garden.

After 44 years, now that our children have left home, we are moving down in size. We hope to pass this warm house on to people who can appreciate Jul de Roover's brilliant work as much as we do.
