Description

In the cool Dageraadstraat, you will find many families with young and older children in a nice mix of houses from the interwar period. In terms of location, you'll be in the right place: at walking distance from the centre, the station and close to the Vaart and Vrijbroek Park.

In this cheerful family home from the 1920s, the charm of the time has been beautifully preserved, while the entire house has since been thoroughly renovated. Charming façade and front garden with space for bicycles behind the hedge.

The entire ground floor, together with the 2nd floor, was tackled in 2021 in collaboration with Everywhere Architecture. Hall with original tiles, dry cellar, guest toilet. Classy sitting area on merbau parquet in front and new extension with super cool kitchen and pantry in the middle. Super abundant natural light thanks to the wide skylight and lovely dining area with play corner and view of the green, south-west facing garden. If you open the sliding windows in afzelia wood, the sunny terrace with pergola and wisteria becomes part of the living space. In the garden with arches in Corten steel and compost bin at the back, apple and fig trees provide shade.

The first floor received a complete makeover by Blower Interiors and offers two bedrooms separate dressing room and stylish bathroom with shower with original coloured glass wall, bathtub, double sink in Corian. On the second floor, on new voile oak parquet, is the master bedroom with desk, a smaller children's bedroom and second bathroom. Pull-out stairs to attic with storage space.

Warm, out-of-the-box family home with garden - don't miss this great opportunity!

The owners,

owner speaks out

This is a lovely warm family home with wonderful light, space and colour on all floors. When renovating, we opted for colourful and sustainable, while keeping in mind the original charm and authenticity of the 1920s. This resulted in some out-of-the-box choices that miraculously fit incredibly well with the cool character of the house.
Furthermore, this is also one of the nicest streets in Mechelen. Fine contact with neighbours, with lots of street parties, sports clubs and start-ups, close to the centre but still nice and quiet and close to the Vaart, where we love to go walking, cycling, hiking. You're also just minutes from the motorway slip roads and train station here.
The garden, which is almost drawn into the house both front and back, is an integral part of the house, especially in spring and summer. Just open the large sliding windows and enjoy the sun terrace and the shade of the apple and fig trees. Lovely for aperitifs or catching up with friends during long summer evenings.
We have loved living here all these years. It has very much become our home and that is how we have shaped it. We hope it may now become a real home for other people too. A place to enjoy all those finer things, the neighbourhood, the garden, the light, the character and the unique individuality of this fantastic house.
