In one of the most beautiful streets of the Great Beguinage in Mechelen (UNESCO heritage), with the iconic Het Anker brewery as a charming neighbor at the back, you enjoy peaceful and quiet living, yet just a stone’s throw from the vibrant city center.
The Beguinage house ‘The Four Evangelists’ is a stunning and striking presence in the car-restricted Beguinage. Since 1986, it has been officially listed as a monument in the heritage inventory. Architect Karel Beeck carried out a successful full restoration 27 years ago, preserving many authentic elements such as the child beams and the beautiful front and rear façades. Other features, like interior doors and small shutters, were completely recreated according to the original design.
On the ground floor, you’ll find a charming sitting room on the right and a modern kitchen with a cozy bench seat on the left, overlooking the sunny south-facing city garden with a handy terrace cupboard. The beautifully light blue painted woodwork adds a romantic touch of Provence.
Mezzanine with raised room and toilet. First floor with two spacious bedrooms and a bathroom. Under the magnificent roof structure lies the attic floor: currently one large space used as an extra lounge and office. Of course, you can also create a generous third and even fourth bedroom here. Plans and provisions for a second bathroom are ready. Finally, there is also a cellar.
If you want to live like royalty in France, but in Mechelen, you’ve found your unique spot here!
