Description

Next to the Sint-Amandus Church, in a quiet one-way street.
Together with three neighboring homes, this townhouse is set slightly back from the street, creating a cozy village feel — perfect for kids playing with sidewalk chalk and relaxed chats with the neighbors. After just a 15-minute walk, you’re in the heart of Antwerp, at Central Station or the MAS museum.

The perfect blend of modern comfort and authentic charm — that’s this townhouse in a nutshell.
The current owners (an interior architect) have thoroughly and sustainably renovated the property. Both aesthetically and technically, every detail has been meticulously updated:
floor insulation with underfloor heating (ground floor), electricity, sewer system, ecological roof and rear wall insulation, sandblasted staircase, professionally restored mouldings, new heating system and bathroom... Everything was completely stripped and rebuilt.
The exterior woodwork was also replaced with painted wooden windows — a requirement of the heritage department, as the house is located next to the protected Sint-Amandus Church.

At the front, you’ll find a cozy sitting area with a wood-burning stove. The custom-made kitchen, together with the built-in bench and dining table at the rear, was crafted by a cabinetmaker. A lovely detail: the wood veneer pattern runs seamlessly across the cabinetry — a design feature that, along with the poured concrete floor, creates unity and calm. The desk, wardrobe, and TV unit were all custom-designed as well.

In summer, enjoy cooling off on the patio. Upstairs: four spacious bedrooms, a beautiful bathroom, a home office, and a sunny rooftop terrace. And last but not least: a great EPC B rating.

‘The new owners can already prepare for a warm welcome from the neighbors.’
The owner,

owner speaks out

‘Sixteen years ago, we were living in a small apartment. As a young couple — a bit naive, perhaps — we dreamed of owning a townhouse we could shape to our taste. Karolien is an interior architect, and I also have a passion for architecture and design.
We lived here for a year and a half without making any changes. At the time, there was barely any electricity, and during winter, we had to walk through the house with headlamps. The basement and its floor were completely open, just like the roof, so a chilly breeze always drifted through the hallway.
It was clear that this renovation needed to be thorough. With good spirits, rose-colored glasses, and a clear goal, we tackled the transformation of our rough Antwerp diamond. We moved out for a year to fully strip and rebuild the place. When we returned, we had a brand-new daughter with us.
The major works were done, and we could calmly focus on the finishing touches — painting, restoring original doors, baseboards, the terrace... The first three years were tough, but the past twelve have been pure enjoyment. Even now, we still look up to admire the beautiful façade before walking in.
Inside, we love the high ceilings, original wooden floors, and the blend of modern and historic elements. Because the house is vertically structured, everyone — including the kids — can always find a corner to do their own thing.
The living room, with its cozy fireplace, and the kitchen are perfect spaces to spend time together.
The new owners can already prepare for a warm welcome from the neighbors. Without exaggeration: this is a little village in the heart of the city. We will miss it dearly!’
