Description

In the former grain distillery, a piece of history unrolls before your eyes. The brick warehouses were partly destroyed in a fire. Time also took its toll on them - and those signs are still visible today. Architects Coussée & Goris preserved the history and patina of the buildings: the thick walls, the robust factory feel. The newly added, massive, vertical beams in dark steel create rhythm and cohesion. These sculptural elements literally and figuratively connect old and new.

Everywhere in the house you enjoy brilliant light thanks to the ceiling-high windows. Timeless tailoring, built-in cupboards, original interventions with respect for the existing volumes... Understated luxury and comfort all over.

Indoor gardens, patios and mature trees surround the warehouse. Wide stretches of greenery provide a gracious feel and plenty of breathing space. Alternating green meadows, small orchards and a central water feature complete the picture.

Doctors' surgeries, restaurant and offices, and a large, underground garage... Moreover, with the bike immediately heading along the canal. This property embraces the greenery of "the outdoors", the convenience of a flat, the soul of history and the modernity of contemporary architecture. - 2 parking spaces included

owner speaks out

We felt it was essential to preserve the soul of the building with a lot of respect for the beautiful patina of the warehouses. That history gives character - these buildings really tell a story. This is also the reason why we didn't hide anything from the 'scars' and 'wounds' during the conversion. Everything was allowed to remain visible. We did face some challenges. For instance, we chose to cut away the central building from the design so that former inner walls suddenly became outer walls. Anyway, this was one of the most beautiful projects we have ever had the pleasure of leaving our mark on. The fact that we succeeded in resolutely preserving the soul of the warehouses makes us extremely happy.
