Description

Following the recent redevelopment of the quiet Lange Brilstraat into a pedestrian-friendly residential street, as well as the renovation of Stadswaag and Paardenmarkt, this neighbourhood has been significantly upgraded. Add to that the many great spots such as the new Café Keulen, nice restaurants and coffee bars, and the proximity of the MAS, the renewed quays, and the historic city centre, and it’s easy to see why this has become such a pleasant urban area. Lively during the week, quiet on weekends – the perfect balance for comfortable city living.

The history of this exceptional home dates back to the 16th century. The overall feel is defined by beautiful wooden beams and floors, an abundance of cozy charm, surprisingly generous natural light, and a unique layout with different spaces on split levels – atypical and therefore all the more charming.

It starts off beautifully in the entrance hall, with its checkerboard tiles and stunning stained glass skylight. The ground floor features a separate studio with its own kitchen and bathroom, a bicycle storage area, and a city courtyard. There is also a vaulted cellar. To reach the spacious kitchen with six cooking zones, a large oven, a lovely opening towards the living area, and direct access to the terrace, you take the first staircase. Half a level up, you’ll find the cozy living room. On the mezzanine level, there is a large bathroom with a charming clawfoot bathtub. The second floor offers two very spacious bedrooms, and the third floor is currently a multifunctional space with high ceilings. Adding a mezzanine A third bedroom or a super cool studio space It’s all possible.

Finally, the house is in good condition compliant electrical installation and an EPC B rating.

The owner,

owner speaks out

We fell in love with this cozy home full of charm the original layout gives each split level its own character my favourite spot in the house the huge bathroom with cast iron bathtub I love how the light flows in beautifully and the lovely view at the back of the Academy but also the stained glass skylight in the hallway the surprising natural light the authentic wooden front door and the wooden ceiling beams make this place a truly wonderful base in the city We have seen the neighbourhood come to life beautifully in recent years during the weekends we truly enjoy strolling through the quiet low traffic streets nearby and discovering the many great spots combined with the lively atmosphere during the week this makes it a fantastic place to fully enjoy city living The separate studio cannot be rented out independently in the long term but is ideal as a kangaroo home for a live in student or as a practical live work combination with an office for a self employed profession.
