Description

In a residential cul-de-sac in Wijnegem: peace and quiet guaranteed. On foot to city centre, bakery, butcher and weekly market. At 10-15 minutes' cycling distance from Ternesse Golf and Rivierenhof.

The owner once lived in one of Lou Jansen's first creations and in one of his last: this house, which she had him design in 2000. Lou Jansen belonged to the Turnhout School, an influential modernist movement inspired by Scandinavian masters such as Jacobsen and Aalto.

The red brick of this beautiful semi-open building immediately catches the eye. The front garden with greenery creates plenty of privacy in the living space. Bringing in natural light was clearly the mission here: Jansen worked with large floor-to-ceiling windows and light strips that draw in light wherever they can.

Entrance hall with glass door to the sunlit living space with handsome staircase in the heart of the room. A blissful fireplace adds atmosphere and warmth. The modern open kitchen can be closed off: handy to keep the dishes out of sight. The large garage, storage room (washing machine connection) and cloakroom are also very practical. In the lush garden, you enjoy your privacy 100%.

One and all windows in the hall on the 1st floor, a handsome contrast to the bold black ceiling. Bright master bedroom with air conditioning and generous dressing room. The office can be perfectly used as a bedroom. Bright white bathroom with bath, shower and washbasin. On the 2nd floor: 1 spacious bedroom, bathroom with shower and 1 smaller children's or guest bedroom.

Living in one of the last designs Lou Jansen, one of the pioneers of the Turnhout School: an opportunity that does not come along every day.

owner speaks out

Our mum was lucky to live in a real Lou Jansen almost all her life. She was a real fan from the very beginning, and so were we. Now we hope someone with the same great love for architecture can feel at home in this beautiful home. The house is not only stylish and architectural, but also very practical and - above all - a real, warm home. Countless cosy hours we spent with our family. Only great memories here.
