Description

In a child-friendly part of Ghent, enthusiastic neighbourhood committee included. On the Fishing side, close to Rommelwaterpark, Vlaanderenstraat with nice restaurants, (neighbourhood) shops, the cosy Lousbergmarkt, Ghent-Dampoort station and public transport. By car, you are quickly on the R4.

Many original elements can be found in this renovation project, such as ceiling rosettes, moulures and the block parquet.
Upon entering, immediately to the right is the large living space with adjoining dining room, separated by an elegant arch. You then enter the orangery, currently the playroom. Here you have a wonderful view of the city garden, which has been planted so that from spring to autumn there is always something blooming: 57 square metres of cheerful floral wealth. From the dining area, you can turn left into the kitchen, from where you have access to the garden. Full basement.

Mezzanine floor: bathroom with separate toilet. The first floor houses two spacious bedrooms. In the front room, thanks to the bay window, you enjoy plenty of sunlight and a relaxing view over the bridge and the water - a very nice spot. From the left bedroom, you overlook the little garden. There is also a third, smaller room that you can convert into an extra dressing room.

The second floor currently houses an office, again with beautiful views to the outside. Next to it is the fourth bedroom or playroom and another smaller room that could serve perfectly as a dressing or storage area. Finally, a few more stairs up lies a handy attic.

Those who feel like rolling up their sleeves can transform this diamond in the rough into a fantastic family home in a lovely neighbourhood.

owner speaks out

We visited this house over 14 years ago and we fell in love instantly. The high rooms with beautiful moulures, the character of the house, the wooden floors, the city garden full of flowers, which the previous owners planted in such a way that something blooms from spring to autumn, the wide view of the Astrid park at the back, the white blossoms of the tree in front of our house... Everything about this house enchanted us.

The location is also perfect for us: near the centre of Ghent, and yet so close to nature, along the towpath beside the Scheldt. Three playgrounds and parks within walking distance: ideal with our child, who can easily go to the Astrid or Rommelwater parks on his own without having to cross a busy road. There is a village feeling here in the city, many neighbours know each other. Kasteellaan is a big street, but you really don't feel that when you're inside.

With pain in our hearts we are now letting go of this beautiful house, it has simply become too big for our now 'shrunken' family and we will miss it very much....
