Description

Grand, elegant and filled with architectural eye candy — that is Place François Riga, one of the most beautiful squares in this sought-after residential area of Schaerbeek. With all amenities close at hand, everything is within walking distance: public transport, train station, shops, schools and the Josaphat Park.

For those dreaming of a townhouse where family life and career can be seamlessly combined, offering generous indoor and outdoor space in a prime, well-connected location, this may well be the golden ticket. With 360 m² of living space, six spacious bedrooms and two bathrooms spread over four (five?) levels, this historic property offers a wide range of possibilities.

Charming front garden. Elegant entrance hall with authentic mosaic flooring. The ground floor follows a classic layout: three interconnected living areas with high ceilings, marble fireplaces and beautiful mouldings, leading to a stylish, fully equipped kitchen at the rear. Separate guest toilet. The large city garden completes this level — a wonderful space for children to play, relaxed gatherings or spontaneous barbecues.

On the first floor: a generous master bedroom with dressing room, bathroom and an XL office. On the second and third floors: a total of five additional bedrooms, another bathroom and a separate toilet. On the top floor: a fantastic mezzanine, ideal as a game room, studio or library. Basement with laundry and technical room. The presence of three separate gas and electricity meters offers opportunities for those looking to create multiple residential units (subject to planning permission).

owner speaks out

What makes this house so special to us is the surprising combination of urban vibrancy and complete privacy. Although we live here in the heart of Schaerbeek, it never feels like a typical terraced home. The house is exceptionally bright; the way sunlight flows in makes it an incredibly pleasant place to live. One of its greatest assets has always been the complete absence of overlooking. Despite the central location, no one can look in from the rear. There have never been curtains at the back, and waking up every morning to an unobstructed view of greenery through the winter garden creates a wonderful feeling. The location is also, for a home in Brussels, hard to beat. Everything is within easy reach: the ring road, Leuven, Antwerp and Mechelen are all easily accessible, and you don’t even need a car to get into the city quickly. An excellent butcher, supermarket, pharmacy and quality primary schools are all just a few minutes’ walk away. It combines the amenities of a city with the charm and ease of a village. What will always stay with us is the silence. On weekends, you can walk outside and truly experience a serene calm — something you wouldn’t expect in the city. After 30 years of living here with great pleasure in this warm and solid home, we hope the next owners will enjoy it just as much as we have.
