'We both grew up with a firm brick in our stomachs. When we no longer wanted to live in the hustle and bustle of the city, but not quite in the countryside either, we instantly fell in love with the grandeur of yesteryear and the authentic character of this property. This house is the centrepiece of the village, literally and figuratively, and it also has a rich history. For instance, the previous owner lived here with her fourteen children (!).
There was a lot of work on the house, and it promised to be a 'crazy' project, but we threw ourselves 200%. Over the past ten years, we have literally renovated everything here and adapted it to contemporary comforts. It really is a robust house that never disappoints. They don't build them like that today! We added our little chapter to it, by renovating it to sustainable and quality standards. Among other things, we chose aluminium windows with steel-look profiles, sanded concrete on the terrace, wrought-iron hall doors that are up to three metres high, black roof tiles, sandblasted floors and stairs...
Wanting to make the most of the large volume, we thought it would be nice to attach a holiday home to our family home.It became a completely separate entity, with its own front door around the corner. It soon turned out to be the ideal place to stay for tourists wanting to visit Ghent and Bruges.Staying in a house with a soul, the parking facilities, the local village life, the beautiful Castle Domain.... All our tenants leave here feeling satisfied. Lotenhulle, of all places.... We have known it for a long time, but living more centrally between the capitals of East and West Flanders is almost impossible.
If you would prefer to convert the holiday home into a commercial property, b&b, residential.... This is possible with an application for an environmental permit.
For us, this will always be a unique house, like none we will ever find again. We will also miss the pleasant, quiet village, with its well represented tradespeople and friendly neighbours.Everyone here likes to do another 'klapke' when you come out, you are barely 300 metres from Poeke park, and a large loose-leash meadow for dogs.In the evening, village life then falls completely silent again and it's still really quiet here.'
