dmvA Architecten

From a shared passion for architecture by David Driesen and Tom Verschueren, dmvA architects, 'through Architecture', was born. A noble aim to use architecture to provide a critical response to social, economic and societal issues. This does not lead to a manifesto of rules to arrive at an architecture but externalises itself into a 'do' architecture. A research platform into form, material, sustainability... An architecture that always departs from its question, context and budget.

The work of dmvA can be characterised as expressive, careful architecture that achieves maximalism through minimalism, coupled with a particular attention to refined details and materiality. The claim to work 'style-free' effectively appropriates the entire range of style. This attitude eliminates all constraints of conformity while asserting the principle that there is no such thing as timeless architecture. dmvA is strongly committed to design processes, always looking for the architectural added value in the designs it puts forward.

dmvA likes to act as scenarists: they transform a plan into a scenario, spaces into sequences and buildings become storytellers. In doing so, they always look for a unique solution within the client's request and from the location. dmvA has built up a versatile portfolio over the past 20 years: from public buildings over large-scale residential projects to private projects & installations.
